Three garment workers killed in Habiganj road crash

HABIGANJ, Jan 11, 2025 (BSS) - Three women garment workers were killed in a road accident in Shahjibazar under Madhabpur upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased were Urmi Akhter, 20, daughter of Mansur Miah, a resident of Majlispur village under Baniachong upazila, Dilara Begum, 32, daughter of Kayum Ullah of Jontori village in Nabiganj upazila and Rumi Akhter, 25, of the same area.

The accident occurred in front of Badshah Pioneer Company factory on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway around 8 am when a bus hit a three-wheeler from behind, leaving two three-wheeler passengers dead on the spot and another injured, said ATM Mahamudul Haque, officer-in-charge of Shaestaganj Highway police station.

The injured was taken to Madhabpur upazila Health Complex where she succumbed to her injuries, he said.
