Brick kilns fined Tk 6.80 lakh, 10 shut down in Rangamati

RANGAMATI, Jan 11, 2025 (BSS) - Kaukhali Upazila Administration in a daylong
drive realised Taka 6.80 lakh as fine from the owners of 10 brick kilns for
manufacturing bricks without approval of the Department of Environment(DoE)
and various other irregularities in the upazila here.

Later, the operations of 10 brick kilns were shut down.

A team led by Kaukhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kazi Atikur Rahman
conducted the drive in 10 brick kilns of the upazila as per the directions of
the High Court and closed them down.

The upazila administration will continue the drive to close the illegal brick
kilns in the district, the UNO said.

During the drive, the Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Faisal Al Noor,
Assistant Director of the DoE Mominul Islam were present, among others.
