Motorcyclist killed in Magura road accident

MAGURA, Jan 12, 2025 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed and his co-rider injured in a road accident at the intersection of Joka Madrasha under Sadar upazila here last night.

The deceased was identified as Ratan Halder, 40, also a dish line worker, son of Fagirat Halder hailed from Shialjore village of the Sadar upazila, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aiyub Ali of Magura Sadar Police Station.

Police and local sources said a sand laden truck rammed into the motorbike carrying Ratan and his pillion from the rear end around 9pm, knocking them down onto the road as Ratan was crushed under the wheel of the vehicle, leaving him dead on the spot.

His co-rider Rasul Mollah was also injured in the accident as local people rushed him to Magura Sadar Hospital.

Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee, said the OC.
