Habiganj district BCL leader held

HABIGANJ, Feb, 8, 2025 (BSS)- Police have arrested a leader of Habiganj 
district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the banned student wing of 
Awami League (AL), from Ajmiriganj upazila of the district on Friday night.

The arrested was Mehedi Hasan Ishan, 34, son of former chairman of Ajmiriganj 
upazila and vice-president of the district AL late Hafiz Uddin Mia, also co-
organising secretary of the Habiganj district unit of BCL.

According to police, Ishan, an accused in a case filed by the Anti-
Discrimination Student Movement in Habiganj, was detained around 9pm from a 
restaurant near the post office in Ajmiriganj municipality.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ajmiriganj Police Station ABM Maidul Hasan 
confirmed the matter to BSS saying, "He was produced in Habiganj court this 
afternoon."
