3 of a family burnt in Madaripur gas cylinder explosion

MADARIPUR, Feb 10, 2025 (BSS) -Three members of a family sustained burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion in Bagherpara area of the district last night.


The victims were identified as, Juwel Hawlader ( 35), his wife Tania Begum (30) and their daughter Sohagi Akhter (8) .

The gas cylinder exploded around 8pm on Sunday when Tania Begum lit gas stove to ignite mosquito coil , leaving three family members injured , said Sheikh Ahaduzzaman, Inspector of Madaripur Fire Service and Civil Defense Department.

Fire personnel rushed to the spot, rescued the victims and sent them to Madaripur District Sadar Hospital.

Later, Tania Begum who suffered critical injuries, was transferred to the Burn unit in the capital.

The incident is supposed to happen due to gas leakage, said fire service officials.
