RAB arrests one with smuggled goods from Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, Feb 10, 2025 (BSS) –Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested one person with a large amount of illegal Indian smuggled goods conducting a drive in Maraganger Kanda area under Haluaghat upazila at the district early today.

The arrestee is identified as Habibur (35) from the spot, said RAB officials.

Acting on a tip-off, RAB team conducted the raid and found a huge stockpile of smuggled Indian goods hoarded for illegal trade, said RAB. 

The elite anti-crime force recovered 3,720 kg Indian cumin, 21,598 pieces Jonson’s Baby soap and 40 sacks Indian cloth, estimating  market value is nearly 1 corer taka , said RAB-14 commander and additional DIG Naimul Hasan. 

Smuggled goods had been illegally stored in Bangladesh for long time to evade import duties, he said.
