Martyrs' Day observed in Manikganj with due respect

Manikganj, Feb 21, 2025 (BSS) - The Great Martyrs Day and International
Mother Language Day was observed today in Manikganj with due respect, paying tributes to the language heroes.

Marking the day, people from all walks of life paid homage to the
language movement heroes, the valiant sons of this soil who made supreme
sacrifice to establish Bangla as the mother-language in 1952, by placing
wreaths and flowers at language movement memorials (Shaheed Minar) at Manikganj Government High School Play Ground. 

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Manwar Hossen Molla placed the wreath at the altar of the Shaheed Minar at one minute past twelve last night. Later, other officials and people of all walks of lives also placed wreaths. 

To mark the day, the national flag was kept at half mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous buildings with the sun rising.

Marking the occasion, a discussion programme and reception to the family members of Martyred language heroes was held. Besides, a special prayer was offered for the departed soul of the martyrs and development of the country.

Meanwhile Language Martyred Rafique Smriti Parishad observed the Shaheed day and International Mother Language Day with a five daylong program that included discussion and cultural function at "Rafique Nagar" (Paril) the native village of Martyred Rafique at Singair in Manikganj. BNP Manikganj District Convenor Afroza Khanam was the chief guest, where S A Kabir Jinnah, Member of Convening Committee of District BNP inaugurated the program.
