SHARIATPUR, Feb 22, 2025 (BSS) – A man and his wife died after being
electrocuted at Baliakandi village in Jajira upazila of the district on Saturday
morning.

The victims were Idris Khan, 65, and his wife Shefali Begum, 60, residents of the
same village.

Police said Idris Khan recently installed an electric trap using a wire to protect his
maize field from wild animals, especially porcupines.

Idris Khan and his wife went to the field around 8 am this morning without
disconnecting the electric line. As such, Idris Khan was first electrocuted and he
fell on the ground. While trying to protect her husband, Shefali Begum was also
electrocuted and died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Padma Bridge South Police Station Akram Hossain
confirmed the matter.
