SATKHIRA, Feb 22, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Forest Department in a drive
seized 62 kilograms of venison from the Kopotakkho river in the Sundarbans
Satkhira range early this morning.

On a tip-off, two patrol teams of the department conducted a drive around
2.30 am in the Kopotakkho river adjacent to the Sundarbans and seized the
venison from a boat, Sundarban Satkhira Range Assistant Conservator of
Forests (ACF) Md. Mashiur Rahman said.

Sensing the presence of the teams, the poachers fled away leaving their boat
and venison, he said.

The forest department has strengthened patrols to stop deer hunting in the
Sundarbans, Mashiur Rahman added.
