Drives to control prices of essentials conducted at Lakshmipur

LAKHSMIPUR, March 2, 2025 (BSS) - Lakhsmipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajib Kumar Sarkar today conducted drives at several markets at Lakhsmipur in order to control the prices of essential commodities during the Ramadan.
 
Superintendent of Police (SP) of Lakshmipur district Akter Hossen, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) JP Dewan, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Md. Jamshed Alam Rana and Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Abdul Monnaf, officials from the District Consumer Rights, district Agricultural Marketing Department and Fisheries Department, and several executive magistrates of the district administration were present at the time.

During the drives, the authorities warned the shopkeepers not to craft any syndicate and increase commodity prices.
 
Regarding the drive, DC Rajib Kumar said such drive will continue throughout the whole month of Ramadan and the prices of essentials have already started coming under control. "We have warned some shops initially rather than charging fines," he said. 

Police administration is also working in line with district administration to control the prices of essential commodities and agencies are actively monitoring the markets so that no one could craft syndicates, SP Akhter Hossen said, adding, "The police is working to make solution about illegal structures from the both side of footpaths to reduce traffic Jam".
