Coast Guard detains drug trader with fire arm, 30,000 Yaba tablets in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, April 21, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) detained a Yaba trader with a country made fire arm and 30000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Gohira coast area early today.

The drug trader was Md Shoukat Ali, hailed from Anwara Upazila of the district. Several cases including theft, robbery and drug cases were pending against him with Patenga, Anwara and Maheshkhali Police Stations.

Confirming the incident, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutanant Commarder Md Siamul Hoque  said  based on secret information, a team of Coast Guard detained him with yaba, TK 17,240 and fire arms from Gohira coast area at 4 am today.

The boat used to smuggle the yaba tablets was seized from the spot, BGC sources said.

Md Siamul Hoque said the Coast Guard handed over the arrested person to the concerned police station.
