Two shopkeepers fined for taking extra prices in Ramadan

CHATTOGRAM, Mar 02, 2025 (BSS) - Two shopkeepers were fined for taking additional prices for Soybean oil, chickpea and onion in Boalkhali upazila of the district. 

A mobile court led by Assistant Commissioner (land) and Executive Magistrate Kaniz Fatema passed the order today during a campaign in Shakpura area of the upazila.

She said, "For keeping additional rates of Soybean oil, chickpea and onion, two groceries named 'Golbahar Traders' and 'Mukta Traders' have been fined Tk 5000 and 2000 respectively. Besides, the prices have been checked by visiting the rice market, fruits shop and vegetable and fish markets."

She added that to keep the prices of essential products tolerable in the market and mobile court operation will be continuing as part of market monitoring.
