RAJSHAHI, Mar 2, 2025 (BSS) - The National Voters' Day-2025 was observed in the division as elsewhere in the country today in a befitting manner aimed at spreading awareness among the youth on democracy, election and voting rights.

On the day, officials and others concerned took out a colourful rally from the office premises of the Regional Election Office that ended near the office of Divisional Commissioner after parading some thoroughfares.

They also held a discussion meeting at the conference hall of the Divisional Commissioner with a call to encourage the common people to cast their votes for strengthening democracy in the country besides highlighting the importance of the day.

Divisional Commissioner Khandaker Azim Ahmed addressed the discussion as chief guest, while Deputy Inspector General of Police Muhammad Shahjahan and Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Muhammad Abu Sufiyan spoke as special guests with Regional Election Officer Delwar Hossain in the chair.

The theme of the day this year is "Tomar Amar Bangladesh, Vote Dibo Milemishe".

Commissioner Azim Ahmed said National Voters' Day will make young people aware about voting rights to give democracy an institutional shape.

The spirit of this day would get transmitted among the people for registration of new voters, deletion of the names of dead voters and transfers of the voters to desired addresses, he added.

The meeting was informed that there are 1,57,12,921 voters, including 2,50,756 new ones, in the division at present.

It was also told that anyone can solve their problems related to voters through phoning on the toll-free 105 number from anywhere and anytime.

Earlier, they inaugurated the day's programme by releasing pigeons and balloons.

District and upazila-level offices of the EC also observed the day in all eight districts under the Rajshahi division with due manners.
