KCC starts crush program to destroy mosquitoes

KHULNA, March 2, 2025 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) started a
crush program last night to destroy mosquito breeding spots during the Holy Ramadan in the city.

The concerned officers of each KCC ward have been asked to monitor
mosquito-destroying activities, saying punitive measures will be taken
against the irresponsible officers who will found relaxation during duties.

The decision was taken at a meeting between KCC's Administrator Md
Firoz Sarkar and officers of the Department of Conservancy and concerned
officers in each KCC ward on Saturday afternoon at Shaeed Altaf
Auditorium in the KCC building.

In the meeting, the administrator asked concerned KCC officers to conduct a crush program for destroying mosquitoes.

The meeting decided to cancel the weekend holiday of the officers and
employees of the Department of Conservancy and to stop new road
diggings by the Khulna Water and Sewerage (KWASA) authorities and to
send later to complete the ongoing road construction works as soon as
possible.
 
Besides, it was decided to adulticide spray for destroying flying mosquitoes and to larvicide spray for destroying mosquito eggs and breeding before noon at different areas in each ward divided into two zone of the city under the crush program.

The KCC administrator who is also Khulna divisional commissioner Md
Firoz Sarkar threatened dire consequences that punitive action will be
taken against the officers or employees if found anyone negligence during
duty.

The administrator urged city dwellers to keep clean their residence
premises. KCC's Chief Executive Officer Laskar Tajul Islam has been assigned to monitor the entire mosquito destroying activities. 

Mosquitoes breeding increases during seasonal weather, the meeting
discussed. In light with the new medicine for mosquitoes eradication has
recently been procured, and its qualities were examined in the presence of journalists and members of the community. 

KCC's CEO Laskar Tazul Islam, Secretary Sharif Asif Rahman, Chief
Conservancy Officer Engineer Md Abdul Aziz, Conservancy Officer
Engineer Md Anisur Rahman and Waheduzzaman Khan, among others,
were present.
