National Voters' Day observed in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, March 2, 2025 (BSS) - The National Voters' Day-2025 was observed in the city and district today in a befitting manner aimed at creating awareness among the voters, particularly among youth on democracy, elections and voting rights.

On this occasion, a colorful rally led by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin was brought out from the city's Circuit House area that concluded at the same venue after parading different important city streets. Hundreds of people, including officials and employees of government and private departments, participated in the rally.

Later, a meeting was held at the local circuit house conference room with a call to encourage the people to cast their votes for strengthening democracy in the country, side by side, highlighting the importance of the day.
 
Chattogram Regional Election Officer Mohammad Belayet Hossain Chowdhury presided over the function, while Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin addressed the function as the chief guest.

Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam, Additional DIG of Police Sanjay Sarkar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Md. Mahmudul Hasan. Officials, employees of the regional and district election offices, and other government officials were present at the event.

The National Voters' Day was observed for the 7th time under the theme, "Tomar Amar Bangladesh, Vote Dibo Milemishe."

Dr. Md. Ziauddin said, "We must be committed to providing a fair election to the people of the country and creating awareness about voting rights to give democracy an institutional shape."

Earlier, the divisional commissioner inaugurated the day's programme by releasing pigeons and balloons.
