Road accident kills 3 in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, March 3, 2025 (BSS)- Three people, including two women, were killed and three others sustained injuries in a truck-ambulance collision in Rajabari area on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway under Godagari upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased are driver of an ambulance Jafar Iqbal Jewel, 45, and its passengers Sundari Rani, 65, also a cardiac patient, and Aduri Rani, 38, of Godagari upazila, police said.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Godagari Police Station Ruhul Amin said the accident occurred when the ambulance collided head-on with a truck in the area as it was taking a cardiac patient to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH), leaving its driver and passengers dead on the spot and injuring three others.

"Being informed, a team of Fire Service and Civil Defense rushed to the spot and took the injured to the RMCH," the OC said, adding that the bodies will be handed over to their respective families after autopsy.
