22 business entities fined for violating consumer rights in Khulna

KHULNA, March 3, 2025 (BSS) - The Directorate of National Consumer Rights 
Protection (DNCRP) on Sunday realised fines amounting to Taka 72,000 from the 
owners of 22 business entities across the Khulna division for several 
irregularities.
 
A total of eight teams of the DNCRP conducted its drives in eight districts-- 
of the division and realized the fined money for processing of unhygienic 
food, using contraband ingredients in food, irregularities in delivery of 
products, excessive overpricing of goods, etc, said a DNCRP press release 
here last night. 
 
During the drives, the operation teams examined market price and purchase 
vouchers of different essential commodities including rice, edible oil, gas, 
medicine, diagnostics, potatoes, local onion, vegetables, chicken and eggs 
and directed businessmen to showcase government fixed commodity sale prices, 
it said.
 
During the drive, a mobile court of the DNCRP led by Deputy Director of 
Khulna Divisional Office Mohammad Selim fined Taka 11,000 to six business 
establishments in Boyra area under Sonadanga Thana in Khulna city.
 
A separate mobile court led by Walid-Bin-Habib, assistant director of Khulna 
district office, fined Taka 8,000 to three business establishments in city's 
Baikali Bazar and Chitrali Bazar areas.
 
In Satkhira, a DNCRP team led by Assistant Director of the District Office Md 
Mehedi Hasan Tanveer fined Taka 15,000 to two business entities.
 
In a similar drive in Jashore, a team led by Sayeda Tamanna Tasnim, assistant 
director of the district office, fined Taka 5,000 to a business establishment 
in the district.
 
In another drive, Narail district assistant director Shamim Hasan fined Taka 
5,000 to three business entities here.
 
In Kustia, a team of the DNCRP led by Md Masum Ali, assistant director of the 
district office, realised Taka 3,000 as fine from two business bodies here.
 
In another drive, Magura district assistant director Md Sajol Ahmmad fined 
Taka 12,000 to two business houses while a team of Chuadanga district office, 
led by Assistant Director Md Mamunul Hasan, realised Taka 13,000 as fine from 
the owners of three business outlets.
 
In the division, such drives will continue in greater public interest, the 
press release added.
