Police arrest six robbers in Sunamganj

SUNAMGANJ, March 03, 2025 (BSS) - Police in two special drives arrested six robbers including a gang leader from Shantiganj upazila of the district last night.

The law enforcers also recovered country-made firearms and weapons from their possessions.

On a tip-off, a team of police raided Ganiganj Bazar area and arrested robbers' leader Martuz Ali of Bahadurpur village of Shantiganj upazila of the district.

Later, according to his information, police arrested Kafil Mia, 42, of Mirzapur village of Dirai thana, Mizanur Rahman, 50, of Henglakandi Noagaon village of Jalalabad thana, Md Syed Ali, 21, and Sajik Ali, 17, of Borokapan village of Shantiganj thana and Kabir Hossain, 50, of Karari village of Shantiganj thana.

Police arrested them when they were taking preparation for robbery at Madabpur-Dirai point.

Police said the arrestees were involved in robberies and snatching for a long time. 

Several cases against them were there at different police stations.
