Youth stabbed to death by fleeing snatcher in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Mar 3, 2025 (BSS) - A young man was stabbed to death by snatcher when the victim attempted to catch the fleeing snatcher in Jail Road area in the city last night.
 
The identity of the victim, 25, could not be known immediately. 
 
The identity of the hijacker, who was beaten severely by the mob at the spot and now undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, is still untraced, OC of Kotwali Police Abdul Karim said.  
 
Police and witnesses said the incident took place at around 12.30am last night in front of Sahah Amanat Mazar Gate area. The hijacker was fleeing after committing a crime at Laldighi intersection and sensing the crime, agitated people started chasing him. Hearing hullabaloo from the crows, the victim tried to catch the hijacker but the hijacker stabbed the young man indiscriminately. At one stage, the agitated people caught the snatcher and beat him severely on the spot. 
 
Later, local people rescued the injured youth and took him first to Chattogram General Hospital and later shifted to CMCH, where on duty doctor declared him dead. 
 
Kotwali police rushed to the scene, arrested the hijacker and sent him to CMCH for treatment.
