CHANDPUR, March 4, 2025 (BSS) - Two youths were killed after their motorcycle
collided with a covered van at Puran Bazar in the district last night.

The deceased were Mohammad Avi, 17, son of Abdus Salam and Niloy, 20, son of
M Selim, of Puran Bazar area. According to family sources, both of them lived
in Italy with their guardians.

According to locals, the accident occurred when a motorcycle collided head-on
with a covered van in front of Puran Bazar Girls' High School around 10:30 pm
as Niloy along with Avi was moving towards Natun Bazar area from Puran Bazar
riding on the motorcycle, leaving both of them critically injured on the
spot.

Locals rushed them to Chandpur General Hospital.

Abhi succumbed to his injuries upon arrival. Niloy was referred to Dhaka for
further treatment, but he died on the way away near the Wireless Bazar area
of Chandpur town, said Dr Md Billal Hossain of the hospital.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station Md Bahar Mia
confirmed it.

"The driver of the covered van fled the scene after the accident. However,
the vehicles were seized, and the helper is in custody. Legal proceedings are
underway," the OC added.
