KHULNA, March 4, 2025 (BSS) - The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) on Monday realised fines amounting to Taka 94,200 from the owners of 24 business entities across the Khulna division for several irregularities.
A total of nine teams of the DNCRP conducted its drives in eight districts of the division and realized the fined money for processing of unhygienic food, using contraband ingredients in food, irregularities in delivery of products, excessive overpricing of goods, etc, said a DNCRP press release here last night.
During the drives, the operation teams examined market price and purchase vouchers of different essential commodities including rice, edible oil, gas, medicine, diagnostics, potatoes, local onion, vegetables, chicken and eggs and directed businessmen to showcase government fixed commodity sale prices, it said.
A mobile court of the DNCRP led by Deputy Director of Khulna Divisional Office Mohammad Selim fined Taka 7,000 to five business establishments in Gallamari Bazar area under Sonadanga Thana in Khulna city while conducting a drive there.
A separate mobile court led by Walid-Bin-Habib, assistant director of Khulna district office, fined Taka 5,000 to two business establishments in city's Boro Bazar and Helatola Road areas.
In Kushtia, a DNCRP team led by Assistant Director of the District Office Md Masum Ali fined Taka 6,000 to a business entity.
In a similar drive in Magura, a team led by Md Sajol Ahmed, assistant director of the district office, fined Taka 17,000 to two business establishments in the district.
In another drive, Meherpur District Assistant Director Mohammad Mamunul Hasan fined Taka 34,000 to two business entities here.
In Jashore, a team of the DNCRP led by Sayeda Tamanna Tasnim, assistant director of the district office, realised Taka 11,300 as fine from five business bodies here.
In another drive, Satkhira District Assistant Director Md Mehedi Hasan Tanvir fined Taka 6,500 to two business houses.
In another drive, Bagerhat District Assistant Director Sharifa Sultana fined Taka 5,400 from five business entities while a team of Jhenaidah District Office, led by Assistant Director Nishat Meher, realised Taka 2,000 as fine from the owner of a business outlet.
In the division, such drives will continue in greater public interest, thepress release added.
