District taskforce committee meeting held for raising hilsha production

LAKSHMIPUR, March 4, 2025 (BSS) - The district taskforce committee today held a meeting at the deputy commissioner's office here with an aim to enhance hilsha production and Jatka preservation.

With deputy commissioner of the Lakshmipur district Rajib Kumar Sarker in the chair, the meeting also was attended, among others, by additional deputy commissioner (General ) JP Dewan, district fisheries officer Billal Hossen and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jamshed Alam Rana.

The meeting said the catching fish on the Meghna River from Ramgati under Lakshmipur district to Shatnal under Chandpur district remain stop from March 1 to April 30 to protect the fisheries resources.

The overall aspect in terms of government law implementation was also discussed in the meeting.

The deputy commissioner also gave directives on the presentation of the magistrate for distribution rice among the fishermen. The members of the taskforce committee will work to implement the directives.

If anybody try to flout the law, necessary legal action including jail and fine also will be imposed in this connection.
