FENI, March 4, 2025 (BSS) - Iftar items are being distributed here every day in memory of the martyrs killed in the August 4 mass uprising by Awami League leaders and activists in Mahipal of the district town.

Hundreds of fasting people, including students and pedestrians, besides vehicle passengers, participated in the program at Mahipal Zero Point on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

Volunteer organizer Osman Gani Russell said, "Our brothers were shot dead here on August 4. Ten of our brothers were martyred. We are distributing iftar items every day in memory of them."

Over hundred iftar packets are distributed every day and 25-30 volunteers are associated with this initiative, while Taka 20,000 was spent on the first day of Ramadan, he said.

"After the first day, with the interest and support of many, we have taken up the program throughout the month. After that, an average of Taka 10,000 is being spent every day." Russel added.

Abdul Qayum Sohag, former coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, called upon all to pray for the martyrs for the peace of their departed souls.
