18 gold bars weighing 2.411kg seized, 2 held from Chuadanga

DHAKA, March 4, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today arrested two people with 18 gold bars weighing 2.411 kg worth around Tk 3 crore from a passenger bus in Chuadanga district.

Acting on a tip-off, the BGB personnel seized the gold bars at 1:10pm today after searching a 
bus of ‘Purbasha Paribahan’ coming from Dhaka that left Dhaka for smuggling the gold bars 
to India through Chuadanga border today.

The arrestees have been identified as Md. Rafiqul Islam (42), son of the late Khoda Box of 
Pirpurkullah village in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga, and Md. Liton Khan (26), son of 
Md. Moslem Uddin of Hossainpur village in Debidwar upazila of Comilla.

Lt. Col. Md. Nazmul Hasan, Commander of BGB's Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB) confirmed 
the seizure of the gold bars and the arrest in a press release.

The BGB also held two passengers for their suspicious behavior. The estimated value of the 
seized gold bar is Taka 2,93,78,213, the release added.

A case was lodged with Chuadanga Sadar Police Station in this connection.
