700 underprivileged families get food aid in Naogaon

NAOGAON, March 21, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 700 underprivileged families in Naogaon have received food items marking the holy month of Ramadan.

Social Aid organized the program with the financial assistance from Islamic Relief USA and Osman Consulting UK at the Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium this morning. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Abdul Awal was present as the chief guest and handed over the food items.

Each food package included 25 kilograms of rice, two kilograms of lentils, two kilograms of chickpeas, five liters of soybean oil, two kilograms of sugar, one kilogram of date, 40 grams of semai, one kilogram of powdered milk and 30 chicken eggs. 

"It is difficult to run my family amid poverty. I work in different places with my child in my arms. Now, having received these food items, the hardship during the month of Ramadan will reduce a lot," said one Nilufa, who received the food aid.

Tea seller Akbar Hossain was also happy after receiving the food items. Akbar said with the food items he received; his family will be able to pass the rest of the fasting and Eid with joy.

The program was chaired by Social Aid district coordinator Fazlul Haque Khan, and it was addressed by upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Ibnul Abedin, Osman Consulting UK Program Coordinator Tanzil J Ahmed, Social Aid finance and administration director Mohammad Ali, project planning and management director Ishaq Mia, and Naogaon District Press Club President Raihan Alam.
