Armed robbers loot 35 bhori gold, cash in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, March 21, 2025(BSS) – A group of robbers broke into a house and looted around Taka 5.5 lakh in cash and 35 bhori gold jewellery taking family members hostage at gunpoint in the district in the early hours of today.

The incident took place at the house of Shafiqul Dhabak, son of Shamshuddin Dhabak of Chanka village of Ghona union in Sadar upazila.

The owner of the house, Shafiqul Dhabak told BSS that around 2am, a group of 7/8 robbers broke the grill of his house and entered inside and took all the family members hostage at gunpoint and looted various belongings including Taka 5.5 lakh in cash and approximately 35 bhari gold jewellery.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Shaminul Haque, quoting the family, said that police have already inspected the scene.

Preparations are underway to take further legal action in this regard, he added.
