RANGPUR, March 22, 2025 (BSS) - The Highway and District Police in a special
coordination meeting today decided to work in coordination for highway
passenger safety and smooth traffic management in Rangpur division marking
the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
The meeting was held at the Highway Police Rangpur Region Headquarters to
ensure safety of people's lives and property on the highway and smooth
traffic management centering the holy Eid-ul-Fitr festivity.
Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Highway Police Rangpur Region Mohammad
Tariqul Islam presided over the event.
Officer-in-charges (OCs) of seven police stations of Highway Police Rangpur
Region, ASP of Gaibandha District Circle Rashidul Bari, Circle SP of
Lalmonirhat District Jayonta Kumar, Traffic Inspector (TI) Belal Hossain of
Panchagarh district, TI (Admin) Noor of Rangpur district and other police
officers were present in this important event.
The meeting emphasized coordination between Highway Police and District
Police to ensure the safe movement of commuters on the occasion of the
upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festivity.
The meeting focused on the smooth traffic management and challenges at
various important traffic junctions in Rangpur division, including
Gobindaganj, Palashbari, Barodorga, Taraganj Bazar, Dashmail and Saidpur
Shutkir Intersections.
Along with determining the strategy to address the challenges, the meeting
decided to move all types of three-wheelers and auto rickshaws to the side
roads at important junctions.
"Along with this, the meeting also decided to remove all shops and parking at
all these junction points from the highway and to designate specific places
on the highway for picking up and dropping off passengers," the Highway
Police SP told BSS.
The district police and highway police will jointly implement this work.
Additionally, special check posts will be jointly set up in Barodorga,
Taraganj and Doshmile Highway police stations to control the pickup of fast
motorcycles, microbuses and DJ parties of teenagers before and after Eid to
prevent accidents.
Police officers participating in the meeting presented their views and shed
light on how to make the highway safer.
In the meeting, SP Tariqul Islam ordered all police members to perform their
duties properly.
He also warned of departmental action against those who neglect their Eid
duties of ensuring the safety of people's lives and property and reducing
traffic congestion.
This Eid journey on the highways of the Highway Police Rangpur region would
be safe and relatively free of traffic congestion, the police official hoped.
