Coast Guard arrests 8, seizes weapons, 2585 yaba in Mongla

BAGERHAT, March 22, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Coast Guard arrested eight persons for their alleged involvement in robbery and drugs peddling in separate drives at different places of the district.

On a tip-off, a team of Coast Guard raided some areas in Bhodhra Forest in Mongla last night (Friday) and arrested five persons along with 12 country-made weapons and nine pieces of yaba tablets.

The arrestees were Md Joni, 19, Md Aliraj, 25, Swapan Munsi, 40, of Mongla Thana, and Md Azim, 26, and Md Mezbah, 19, of Koyra Thana of Khulna district.

They were taking preparations for robbery in a ship, said Coast Guard officials.

In another drive, the Coast Guard arrested Fatema, 50, Shahina Akther, 23, and Md Belal along with 2,576 pieces of yaba tablets from Kheyaghat area.

They also seized a motorcycle from their possessions.

The arrestees were handed over to local police stations for taking legal actions.
