SATKHIRA, March 22, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB),
in special anti-smuggling drives, have seized various types of Indian goods
and drugs worth about Taka three lakh from different frontier areas of the
district.

The goods were seized from Bhomra, Gazipur, Toluigacha, Jhaudanga, Kakdanga
and Madra BOPs of Satkhira Sadar and Kalaroa upazilas throughout the day
today, BGB officials said.

On a tip-off, a special operation team of the Bhomra BOP in Sadar upazila
seized Indian sarees worth Taka 30,000 at Lakmidari while another team of
Gazipur BOP seized Indian medicines worth Taka 70,000 at Bostaner Gher, he
said.

Another special operation team of Toluigacha BOP seized Indian three-pieces
worth Taka 25,000 from Charabari area.

Madra BOP team under Kalaroa upazila seized 500 packets of Indian Anagra
tablets worth Taka 75,000 from Shaswan Ghat area while Jhaudanga Special Camp
team seized Indian cosmetics and food items worth Taka 29,750 from Charabari
area.

Similarly, two separate special operation teams of Kakdanga BOP seized Indian
saree and Burqas worth Taka 75,000 from Bhadiyali and Keragachi areas.

However, they were not able to arrest them as the smugglers fled after
sensing the presence of the BGB personnel, said Lt Col Md Ashraful Haque,
commander of 33 BGB Battalion, Satkhira.

The process of depositing the seized goods to the Satkhira Customs was
underway.
