AL leader arrested in explosive case in Naogaon

NAOGAON, March 25, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested Abu Khaled Bulu, President of Bodolgachhi upazila Awami League (AL), from his residence at Bhandarpur in connection with a case under explosive substance act on last night (March 24). 

Saiful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Investigation of the police station said the arrested person was an accused in a case filed on November 5 under explosive substance act. 

Police said, On November 5 last year, two cocktails were exploded in front of Goborchapa Hat Government Primary School of the upazila, which caused a fearful situation in the area. Police later recovered six unexploded cocktails from the area. 

Following the explosion, local leaders and activists of BNP brought out a procession and chanted slogans against the Awami League. They alleged that the leaders of the Awami League exploded the cocktails by arriving in two microbuses. 

Later, on November 5, a local BNP leader Belal Hossain Sawkhin, filed a case with Bodogachhi Thana accusing over 100 leaders and workers of the AL. The complainant also mentioned names of 40 AL leaders and workers including the upazila unit president in the case.

The arrested AL leader was sent to the court for further legal actions.
