CHATTOGRAM, April 18, 2025 (BSS) - At least three persons including an elderly woman were injured and six houses were gutted in a fire in Shah Ohidia Para under Karnaphuli upazila here in the district today.
The victims are Md Ibrahim, 51, Md Shafique, 47, and their mother, Laila Begum, 72.
Laila returned home after receiving primary treatment while her two sons are currently undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
The fire originated from an electrical short circuit around 3:00am from the house of Maulana Hashem and spread to nearby houses quickly, said Karnaphuli Fire Service officer Md Saiduzzaman.
Two units of fire fighters brought the blaze under control after nearly two hours of efforts, he said.
The houses destroyed in the fire belonged to Md Ibrahim, Md Shafique, Md Ishaq, Md Shukkur, Mona Mia, and Abul Kalam.
