2 killed in separate road accidents in Lakshmipur

LAKSHMIPUR, April 25, 2025 (BSS) - Two people were killed in separate road accidents that occurred in Lakshmipur Sadar and Raipur upazilas in the district. 

The deceased were identified as former bank official Md Yusuf, 70, son of Munsur Ahmed from Tumchar area of Sadar upazila and businessman Harunur Rashid, 50, son of Renu Miah from Denayatpur area of Raipur upazila.

Officer-in-charge (OC) Md Abdul Monnaf of Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station and OC Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan of Raipur Police Station confirmed the incidents.

According to police and local sources, Md Yusuf sustained critical injuries after a Jonaki Paribahan bus rear-ended his battery-run auto-rickshaw in the Panir Tangki area on the Lakshmipur-Ramgati road.

He was immediately taken to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

In a separate incident, Harunur Rashid, a grocery shop owner on Post Office Road in Raipur Bazar, was hit by a motorcycle in front of the Raipur Municipality office while returning home from the market. 

Later, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka.
