JAMALPUR, May 5, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for raping a minor girl in Madarganj upazila of the district in 2021.
The convicted person was Md Ziaul Haque, 40 son of Nural Mandal, a resident of Dighalkandi village in Madarganj upazila of the district.
According to the prosecution story, convict Ziaul Haque, a shopkeeper, allured the minor girl by giving chanachur and took her inside a room just beside his shopand raped her on November 23, 2021 afternoon.
Following the incident, grandfather of the victim filed a case against Ziaul Haque with Madarganj Model Police Station.
Senior District Judge of Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 Md Shahidul Islam after examining seven witnesses, DNA test and relevant documents found him guilty and handed down the verdict.
The court also fined him Taka one lakh, in default, to suffer one year more in jail.
