Farmer killed in lighting strike in Sunamganj

SUNAMGANJ, May 6, 2025 (BSS)- A farmer was killed today in a lightning strike in Paschim Lakshmipur village under Jamalganj upazila of the district. 

The deceased was Zakir Hossen, 35, son of Malik Ustar, a resident of Paschim Lakshmipur village of the upazila.

According to police, Zakir Hossain went to cut paddy in a nearby haor at around 11am, while it was drizzling. Suddenly, he collapsed on the spot after being struck by lightning.

He, later, was rushed to Jamalganj Upazila Health Center, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
