Khulna Shishu Academy to host competition marking Tagore's birth anniversary

KHULNA, May 06, 2025 (BSS) - To commemorate the 164th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, Bangladesh Shishu Academy of Khulna District Office will organize a series of competitions for children.

The events will take place on May 8, beginning at 3:30pm, at the Khulna Shishu Academy office. 

Competitions include poetry recitation and essay writing competitions, with participants divided into three groups based on academic levels, said a press release here today.

The poetry recitation competition for Group A includes students from kindergarten to class three, who will recite the poem "Brishti Pore Tapur Tupur" (16 lines) by Rabindranath Tagore.

Group B comprises students from class four to class six and they will recite Tagore's poem "Bichitra Shadh" (24 lines).

Group C, consisting of students from class seven to class ten, will recite "Bir Purush" (32 lines).

The essay writing competition is open to students in Groups B and C. 

Group B students, from class four to six will write on the topic "Rabindranath Tagore: The Nobel Laureate", with a word limit of 600. 
Group C students, from class seven to ten, will write on the topic "Rabindranath in Bengali Literature", with a maximum word count of 800.

All essays must be handwritten on A4-sized paper and submitted to the Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Khulna District Office by 11 am on May 8, 2025.

The first page of each submission must include the participant's full name, parents' names, educational institution, class and a contact number.

Participants in the poetry recitation competition are required to arrive at the venue at least 20 minutes early to complete registration.

The day's events will conclude with a discussion session, cultural program, and prize distribution ceremony at 5:00 pm at the same venue.
