Two killed in separate road accidents in Meherpur

MEHERPUR, May 6, 2025 (BSS) - Two students were killed and two others injured 
in separate road accidents in Gangni upazila of the district today.

The deceased were madrasa student Muntashir Zaman, 12, son of late Ismail 
Hossain of Sindurkouta village and college student Tariq Hossain, 26, son of 
Ali Hossain, a resident of Kazipur village of the upazila.

The two accidents took place in Terail and Kamarkhali areas under Gangni 
upazila on Tuesday afternoon. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gangni Police Station Bani Israil said Muntashir 
Zaman was seriously injured when a brick-laden vehicle hit him at Kamarkhali 
village.

He died on the way to Kushtia Medical College Hospital, he added.

Meanwhile, college student Tariq was killed and two other students were 
injured as a motorcycle collided head-on with another on Meherpur-Kushtia 
road in Terail area, the OC said.

Locals rescued and took them to Gangni Upazila Health Complex. 

Later, Tariq died on the way to Kushtia Medical College and Hospital, Bani 
Israil added.
