SHERPUR, May 7, 2025 (BSS) - A youth died after being electrocuted at Kasba Bhatipara Mohalla of Sherpur Municipality last night.

The deceased was Md. Shariful Islam, 26, son of Mandal Mia of the same area.

According to Zubaidul Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station, Shariful was electrocuted around 9pm while attempting to start an irrigation pump. He reportedly came into contact with a live electric wire connected to the pump.

He was immediately rescued and taken to Sherpur Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
