Nor'wester lashes Natore damaging crops, fruits

NATORE, May 17, 2025 (BSS) - A sudden Nor'wester (Kalbaishakhi storm) and hailstorm in Singrqa and Sadar upazilas of the district has caused extensive damage to crops and fruits on 108 hectares of land last night.

The affected land in Singar upazila is 83 hectares while the remaining 25 hectares are in Natore Sadar upazila.

Of the total, Boro paddy on 52 hectares of land, maize on 13 hectares and vegetables on 10 hectares of land were damaged extensively.

Of the affected fruits, mangoes on 20 hectares of land, litchis on three hectares and bananas on 10 hectares of land were damaged.

Md. Habibul Islam Khan, deputy director of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said that reports of the affected cultivated land, crops and fruits have been sent to the department for further action.
