CHATTOGRAM, May 17, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Naval Police seized 340 sacks of
smuggled urea fertilizer from a fishing trawler named 'FB Abdur Rahman-1' at
the Kumira Naval Ghat in Sitakunda upazila of the district last night.

On a tip-off, a team of the Bangladesh Naval Police conducted a raid in the
area and challenged the trawler named "FB Abdur Rahman-1".

They seized the urea fertilizer from the Pahartali Rani Rashmoni Ghat while
smugglers trying to smuggle those to Myanmar through sea, said Wali Uddin
Akbar, in-charge of the Kumira Naval Police Outpost.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the smugglers escaped the scene
leaving the trawler, he said, adding that these seizures were part of ongoing
efforts to prevent smuggling in the coastal and riverine areas.

Efforts are underway to arrest the owner of the fishing trawler and the
smugglers also, he further said.

The seized fertilizer has been kept at the Kumira Police Outpost and a case
was filed under the Special Powers Act with Pahartali Police Station accusing
the owner and driver of the trawler, the naval police official added.
