Two jailed for life for drug peddling in Khulna

KHULNA, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - A Khulna court here today sentenced life-term rigorous imprisonment (RI) to two drug peddlers in a case filed with Harintana police station.

The court also fined Taka 5,000 of each, in default, they would suffer two months more in jail.

Sumi Ahmed, Judge of Khulna Additional Metropolitan and Session Judge Court, pronounced the verdict in presence of two accused.

The convicted are Sheikh Hasan Ali, son of Ruhul Amin, and Zahedul Islam, son of Nazrul Islam, a truck driver, hailed from Kolaroa Upazila in Satkhira.

According to the prosecution, police arrested Ali and Islam in possession of 192 bottles of phensidyl from Harintana police station area on June 22, 2014.

Sub-Inspector Sazzadur Rahman filed a case with Harintana Police Station on the same day.

On September 21, 2014, Md Russel Sarwar, sub-inspector and also the investigation officer, pressed charge sheet against the duo to a court.
