KHULNA, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - The monthly meeting of the Khulna District Development Coordination Committee was held today at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam presided over the meeting.
He urged all to remain health-conscious and called for arrangements to ensure safe and clean drinking water on roadsides and in front of government offices for pedestrians and the public during the ongoing heatwave in Khulna and other parts of the country.
He also emphasized the need for heightened vigilance to prevent any deterioration of law and order during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
"As we are nearing the end of the 2024-25 fiscal year, ongoing development projects under various departments should be completed within the stipulated time," he added.
Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Sheikh Imran stressed the need for proper management of cattle markets ahead of Eid and urged action to prevent the indiscriminate setup of makeshift cattle markets.
Md Humayun Kabir, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (South), called for measures to prevent the repeated reinstallation of illegal structures on the footpath in front of the medical college, despite several eviction drives.
He also suggested discouraging long-distance motorcycle travel during the Eid period to avoid possible risks.
District Livestock Officer Dr Md Shariful Islam said Khulna district currently has 163,031 sacrificial animals available for Eid-ul-Azha, against a demand of 156,228, indicating a surplus of 6,746 animals.
Executive Officer of the District Council Taslima Akter, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bitan Kumar Mondal, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Saikat Md Rezwanul Haque, UNOs, and other officials were also present at the meeting.
