BHOLA, May 24, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 869 shelter centers have been kept ready at the coastal regions to face any unpleasant weather in the district.
In response to a recent weather bulletin from the meteorological department warning of squally weather over maritime ports, the North Bay, and nearby coastal areas, the district has mobilized 13,800 volunteers, established 14 earthen forts and deployed 97 medical teams to respond to any emergencies.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Azad Jahan confirmed the preparedness during an emergency meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee held at 11am today.
He outlined a comprehensive three-stage disaster management plan - actions to be taken before, during, and after the storm.
As part of the pre-disaster measures, the district has stockpiled 291 metric tons of rice, 1,500 packets of dry food, and baby food. All government officials' leaves have been canceled to ensure full availability during the crisis.
Officials of government departments, including police, coast guard, naval police, and fire service, have been kept on alert.
