KCC for taking awareness programmes against tobacco

 KHULNA, May 29, 2025 (BSS) - Highlighting the harmful impacts of tobacco consumption on the human body, the Administrator of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Md Firoz Sarkar today said excessive tobacco consumption causes serious diseases such as cancer, hypertension and heart attack. 

     He made the remarks while presiding over a meeting of the Divisional Task Force Committee, formed to implement the Smoking and Tobacco Products (Control) Act 2005 (Amended in 2013), held at the conference room of the Divisional Commissioner in Khulna.

     Describing the harmful effects of smoking and tobacco use on the human body, he stressed the need for taking collective efforts to control tobacco use and launching massive awareness campaign against tobacco.

     Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Abu Sayed Md. Monjur Alam, Assistant Director of the Divisional Health Department Dr. Arpana Biswas, and other representatives of various government and non-government organizations, among others, addressed the meeting.
