Parents gathering held in Jhenaidah to prevent child marriage

JHENAIDAH, Aug 21, 2025 (BSS) –A parents’ gathering was held today in  Maheshpur Upazila of  Jhenaidah district to  create awareness  among the people to prevent child marriage.  

The event was organized by Bangladesh Palli Unnayan Board (Bangladesh Rural Development Board, BRDB) on Thursday at 10 am on the premises of Khalishpur Bohumukhi Maddhomik Biddaloy of  Maheshpur Upazila here. 

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Awal attended the gathering as the chief guest. 

 Mahespur Upazila Nirbahi Officer,  Khadija Akhter and Upazila Rural Development Officer, Bahaul Islam, teachers, guardians and adolescents, among others, were present at the gathering.  

The speakers said girls education must be expanded to build them worthy citizen of the country.     

Describing different negative impacts of child marriage,  they said all classes of people of the country come forward to stop the early marriage as it is the curse of  society. 

At the meeting, teachers, students and guardians took oaths against child marriage.
