Three killed in Panchagarh road accident

PANCHAGARH, May 29, 2025 (BSS) - Three people were killed and at least four others injured as a truck hit an Easybike on the Debiganj-Boda highway at Debiganj upazila in the district this afternoon.

The deceased were Shyamoli Rani, 30, of Nayadighi village in Sakua Union of Boda upazila; Bharosa Rani, 35, of Jotbuvuhunpara village in Pamuli Union of Debiganj upazila and a child named Debosri Rani, 7, of the same upazila.

The injured were Ajay Kumar Roy, 60, of Lakkhir Hat in Debiganj; Khoka Babu, 50, Bimola, 50 and Sourab, 28, of Rajar hat Kaliganj in Dandapal Union of the district.
 
According to police and local sources, the Easybike was struck by a speeding truck in Pakuritala area as the victims were returning in an Easybike after visiting relatives of a deceased person in Chilahati Union.

In the accident, all received  injures,  they said, adding that local people took the injured to the Debiganj Upazila Health Complex.

The on-duty doctor there declared Shyamoli Rani dead upon arrival.
 
Due to the severity of their injuries, the remaining victims were later transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
 
While undergoing treatment, Bharosa Rani and Debosri Rani succumbed to their injuries.
  
Inspector (Investigation) Prabir Kumar Roy of Debiganj Police Station confirmed that police and army personnel were deployed to the scene shortly after the crash.
 
The driver of the truck fled the scene.
 
Police have filed an Unnatural Death (UD) case ti his end.
 
“No formal complaint has been received from the victims' families yet,” Inspector Roy added.
