3 persons killed in Panchagarh road accident

PANCHAGARH, May 30, 2025 (BSS) - Three people, including a child, were killed and four others injured when a truck hit a passenger-carrying easy bike on the Debiganj-Boda highway in the Pakuritola area under Debiganj upazila of the district.

The deceased were identified as Shyamoli Rani, 30, wife of Taposh Kumar Roy from the Nayadighi area of Sakoa Union under Boda upazila; Bharosa Rani, 35, wife of Arun Kumar Roy from the Jotbhubonpara area of Pamuli Union under Debiganj upazila; and Deboshree Rani, 7, daughter of Harendra Nath Roy from the Rajarhat Kaliganj area of Dandal Union.

Inspector (Investigation) of Debiganj Police Station Prabir Kumar Roy said the victims were returning by the easy bike after attending a cremation ceremony of a relative in the Bhaulaganj area of Chilahati Union of the upazila on Thursday evening. As they reached the area, a truck traveling from Boda towards Debiganj collided with their easy bike, leaving all 10 passengers on board injured.

Locals took them to Debiganj Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Shyamoli Rani dead.

As the condition of the other injured people was critical, they were later taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, where Deboshree Rani and Bharosa Rani succumbed to their injuries.
