Dhaka, May 30, 2025 (BSS) - Chandpur has recorded the second highest rainfall 242 millimeters in the last 24 hours, beginning from 9:00am on Thursday.
Shah Mohamad Shoyeb, Senior Observer at the Chandpur Climate Office, confirmed the development.
He, however, mentioned that rainfall decreased afterward, with only 11 millimeters recorded in the next six hours.
Despite the heavy downpour, authorities reported that passenger vessels on the Chandpur-Dhaka and Chandpur-Shariatpur routes are operating normally.
Chandpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shakhawat Jamil Chowdhury assured that the situation remains under control.
"Everything in Chandpur is functioning normally, and no serious incidents have been reported," he said.
The intense rainfall is attributed to a deep low-pressure system that originated in the Bay of Bengal and is currently moving across the coastal regions, bringing with it storms and widespread rain.
