TANGAIL, June 03, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in robbery from Savar and Mirpur areas last night.

The arrestees were Roman, 27, son of Asad Ali of Bagerhat, Sohagh, 27, son of late Amir Hossain of Barishal, Arif Hossain, 32, son of Yar Hossain of Barishal, Abdul Hakim, 35, son of late Yusuf Jamaddar of Barishal and Milan Sikder, 45, son of Subhan Sikder of Patuakhali.

Police Super of the district Mizanur Rahman confirmed the incident at a press conference today.

He said expatriate Beauty Akther and her family were going to Bogura on May 31 from Dhaka airport. On the way, when they reached Mirzapur area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway, another vehicle blocked their path and committed a robbery, he added.

He said the robbers looted money and other valuable goods from beauty Akther and her family members.

Police recovered looted money and three mobile phones from them. They also seized a microbus, locally made weapons and mobile phones from their possessions.
