Factories, shops gutted in Sebarhat Market fire at Senbag, causing loss of several hundred crore

NOAKHALI, Aug 10, 2025 (BSS) - Several running factories and over 50 shops were gutted in a devastating fire at a Sebarhat Market at Senbagh in the district in the small hours of today. 

Five firefighting engines with the help of Bangladesh Army and local people, doused the flame with three hours of frantic efforts after the fire originated in the plywood factory of Mohib Ullah around 12:30am today, fire service sources said.

Soon after the fire spread to nearby factories and shops and gutted those to ashes.

The local businessmen claimed that they had endured a loss of several hundred crore in the devastating fire.

However, Assistant Director of Noakhali Fire Service and Civil Defence said that they have yet to confirm the cause behind the fire and the extent of damage caused by the devastating fire.
