Toddler drowns in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - A one-and-a-half-year-old baby girl drowned after falling into a water-filled bucket at Kirtinagar Shelter Project in Sarutia union under Shailkupa upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Sadia Khatun, daughter of Sohag Ali Akand, a resident of the area.

According to police sources, the child was playing near a tube well in the yard of their house around 11 am when she accidentally fell into the bucket.

She was immediately rushed to Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician declared her dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Shailkupa Police Station Masum Khan confirmed the incident.
